Happy Columbus Day! For those of you who aren't working today as well as those of you who are, I hope you have a GREAT day. Today brings to mind a fond memory that I would like to share with you.
When I was in 2nd grade our teacher, Mrs. Long (how many of you remember her? I just loved her!)asked us to bring something related to Columbus Day for Show and Tell. Since it was a special day our parents were invited and of course, Mama was there. When it came my turn I walked to the front of the class empty-handed, turned and proceeded to let the class know that I was going to share a poem my Daddy always told me.
Those of you who knew my father may remember that some of his "ditties" weren't appropriate for children, so needless to say my mother was somewhat uncomfortable and not a little worried about what would come out of my mouth. I then proceeded to recite ... "In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue so that in 1952 Mama and Daddy could have a girl like you." Needless to say Mama was vastly relieved! Ah memories. What wonderful things they are.
Last night was a bit of a difficult night. Don't know why, but I had trouble sleeping. Jerry did too, but he had a good reason. He didn't get up yesterday until 11 AM. I, on the other hand, was up quite a bit earlier so it must have just been one of "tbose" nights. At any rate, I think I'll try to get a few more zzz's in before getting cleaned up for the day.
I did hear from several of you regarding cutting back on the Blog. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I may not be able to stay away!
Love to you all and again, have a phenomenal day.

Lindy,
ReplyDeleteI will truly miss starting my mornings with words of wisdom and encouragement from you but certainly understand "cutting back." It is a job to post every day. You do what is best for you! AND, no one posts a comment every day! : - )
Enjoy Columbus Day. I remember that story and Mrs. Long but she certainly was not loveable. More like an iceberg! Isn't it funny how we remember people and experiences. (Garland still refuses to accept responsibility for stashing cigarettes in her bra! Like it was our idea. Kiddin' ya Garland darling.)
Loves to ya Babe
Hope you have better rest tonight!
