Curtain Call ........

Good Morning to one and all,

As Mom would say It is yet another beautiful day with the sun shining on our faces.

After one hell of a performance and direction, the production has come to an end. The curtain closed last night at 12:23 am, with Mom's immediate family in attendance for her finale. It was serene to find Mom finally find peace and comfort.

Thank you all for your many kind words of support and encouragement over the last 4 months, and know that Mom appreciated each and every one of you. Your care and concern is truly a testament to the woman we all love and know.

Please check www.gillettenewsrecord.com over the next couple days for services, as this will be the final posting to this blog. Condolences may be sent to Walker Funeral Home in Gillette.

Well, the lights are dimmed, the door is locked and the Marquee reads.......

Until we meet again ........

Loads of Love,

Act II

Good morning all,

This is from Bobby;

Intermission is over and Act II has begun.

After many visits with all of Mom's Doctors both here and in Colorado, We have come to the conclusion that further treatment for her Cancer is not a viable option, as the risks and complications of treatment would cause more harm than good.

This morning Mom made the decision to have Hospice come in and take over her care, as they can and will provide the best QUALITY care for now, and Mom still gets to be in charge so it is a win-win situation for what Mom is dealing with.

Mom sends her love to each and every one of you following this blog. And I will keep you posted..............

And so Act II begins..........

Early Thanksgiving

Dearest family and friends,
What a wonderful early Thanksgiving we had, even though our Colorado family had to go home early. The girls did a fabulous job with all the food, and Bruce smoked two turkeys. It was wonderful to be able to sit around to hear the family sing and play the organ, and piano. My little brother played for two hours which is the longest I've heard him play in years and years. the hits just keep getting better and better in the fact that Jody and his friend Riley will be here sometime this week, and Steve and Gail will be up in two weeks. Best part of the whole thing was that everyone had safe journeys. Not sure where the plan of treatment is going but hope to hear something by the end of the week, and i may be back on Chemo, that would be a good thing. Want to let everyone know how wonderful my son is, he came over Saturday with new tattoos..... front side of wrist says CANCER SUCKS, and bottom side says ILYM, he figures he needed a permanent awareness bracelet. Need to go jump in the shower, thank you again for all the cards love and prayers being sent my way!

Much Love

Linda

What a Wonderful Friday !

Good morning dear ones,
This week has been a series of ups and downs. It started Monday when my PCP, Dr. Meade, came over after work and spent about 45 minutes w/me and 45 minutes w/the family, explaining my new prognosis. Seems my liver is full of cancer ... and chemo isn't viable at this time. So, I had to make the decision to fight or forget it. Even though it would be less expensive both financialy and emotionally to give up, I've chosen to fight. I just refuse to go silently into the good night!
Aunt Johanna & Uncle Phil came up Wednesday and we've had a delightful visit with them. They do have to leave this AM, but we've enjoyed what time we've had them. Wally, Jackie, Sherri, Ralph, Kelly, Pat and Amanda came in yesterday and we're planning on an early Thanksgiving Saturday, to which we're looking forward.
Last night brought back many memories while Jerry played the piano and organ and the whole family sang. What a delight it was to lay back and listen. As a bonus, Dr. Meade called with good news. They've found a new chemo that, if I have a good weekend, they're going to try me on Monday. YES! Keep your fingers crossed & say prayers.
Well, Aunt Jo is ready for coffee, so I'm going to close and join her. Wish me luck.
Love to All,
L

I really am here

Sorry about no Blog on Friday.  As you may have surmised, it hasn't been the best of days.  I'm going to let Bobby upate u, as I'm having problems hitting the right keys.  My love to you all.

Good Morning all.... To bring you up to date. Slid back some more last week with it culminating in a trip to the ER on Friday and consequent admission. After chest CT on Sat Dr released Mom as we could do everything at home for her that they would do at the hospital, and Mom SOOOOO loves being at home. Sunday morning brought another trip to ER with her PAT (rapid pulse) that she has had for years except it went into a-fib however converted on her own. Dr sent her home with instructions in case of another attack, and lo an behold another one last nite at 11 PM. EMT came and Mom had converted due to Dad's execution of instructions by the Dr that morn. Oxygen is now in use full time in the house and Mom is resting alot more. We are hoping the lung clears up enough to start a new Cancer drug soon, but time will tell, as we are taking things in stride day-by-day.

Mom sends her love to all of you and hopes to update later this week.

Things that go bump in the night

Happy Halloween!

Are you ready for the little ghosties and goblins tonight?  Can't believe it's the 31st already.  Where did October go?

This weekend wasn't one of the best we've had.  In fact, it pretty much sucked.  Jerry and the kids drained me on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ... taking off 150, 250, and 450 respectively.  The really bad part, though, was that each time we drained I would start having spasms in my left side and left shoulder as well as foot cramps in my left foot.  Tammi was also afraid the site was getting infected, so we went to Urgent Care on Saturday.  They prescribed an antibiotic as well as a muscle relaxant ... although the muscle relaxant doesn't seem to be doing a lot of good.  Just seems to me that every day I'm off chemo, I slide back a little..  Sure will be glad to get to Denver and hope they put me on something.

At any rate, Saturday just seemed to be the day from hell, culminating in a phone call at 10:30 PM from the ER.  Jerry's Mom had fallen getting out of the shower and broke her left arm just above the wrist.  We originally had someone go in at night to be with her when she showered, but she decided she didn't need that.  Needless to say, she's since changed her mind.

Well, dear ones, I'm going to close for now as my eyes are getting heavy.  Sleep has become somewhat of a distant memory, so I'm going to give it another try.  Have a wonderful week and we'll be chatting on Friday ... hopefully with better news.

All my love,

L

Glitch

Good morning once more from the Energy Capital of the Nation,

Today feels like it's going to be a good day.  I certainly hope so, as the last four days haven't been a lot of fun.  I've basically felt rotten.

We had a bit ... no not a bit ... a big glitch on Monday in my treatment.  After having my labs done early Monday morning Dr. Meade called & requested we come to see her, even though I had an appt scheduled for Tuesday with Dr. Mills and Wednesday with her.  When we got there, she met us as her door and escorted us straight to Dr. Mills, so I knew something was up.

Long story short.  My liver profile was up from 0.3 three weeks ago to 2.3 on Monday.  We knew this could happen with the chemo (Votrient) drug but I was sure hoping it wouldn't.  At any rate, I've been taken off the Votrient until we go to Denver on the 7th.  Dr. Lam's office said they may "challenge" me with the Votrient again or they may put me on a different drug, but until my liver heals I'm not on anything which really causes me concern.

Since we have to take the bad with the good, I'm hoping that whatever happens turns out to be better than the Votrient.  I do need to tell you though, I was in tears on Monday afternoon.  My wonderful family made it a lot easier on me, by all getting together and texting me at 3:30 (the time I would normally take the Votrient) with all their love.  I kept getting text, after text, after text.  That helped a lot!

On a lighter note, we have Jerry's mom all moved in to her new apt. and she really seems to like it.  We also have a birthday party to attend tomorrow afternoon at Godfather's Pizza for Tabor, Chuck's son, so we're looking forward to that.  He'll be 12 and it should be fun with lots of food and companionship.

We're excited to go to Denver, as Wally, Johanna, Jackie and Sherri are going to meet us on Sunday to visit and go to dinner.  It will be so good to see them.  While we love Gillette, we miss everyone in Southern Colorado ... although we don't miss the snow.  It avoided us this time, with only cold temps coming our way.  That's okay, though, as I'm sure we'll get our fair share.

Well dear friends and family, better close for now.  Have an awesome weekend and we'll be chatting on Monday.

Love to All,

L
