Greetings once more from cold Gillette,
The thermometer says it's 46 out ... but it feels moer like 32 since it's been raining most of the night. It's a damp cold ... unusual for Gillette which is usually very arid.
Yesterday was quite a productive day. I was able to get our address changed ... making over 20 phone calls. I was worn out last night, though. Too tired to do anything including cook. Jerry had to fend for himself and I just had a Boost and 1/2 qt of Ben and Jerry's Caramel Sutra icc cream. Yum!
Before going any further, I want to once more thank everyone for their cards, letters and prayers. I enjoy each and every one. My cousins, Vicki and Shelli, have been sending cards with missives in them and I really appreciate it. In fact, Vicki sent a couple of old pics yesterday ... one of our parents and grandparents when Daddy & Aunt Betty were VERY young, and one of the entire family when I was about two. I have these ictures in a scrapbook, but as Vicki pointed out it is sure nice to have them handy right now.
Dr. Meade called with good news yesterday. Seems the lung xray we did on Wednesday looks "much, much better" than the previous one. In fact, she contacted Dr. Mills to see if we could remove the lung tube; however, he wants it left in for the time being. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, hun?
The shoulder xray shows arthritus (sp?) starting so I'll have an appt with an orthopod to see about a shot and start PT next Wednesday. Hopefully between the two the old shoulder will straighten up.
Snce it's so early, think I'll take my meds and return to bed for an hour or so ... although I do feel wonderful this morning, but a few more snoozes should make me feel even better.
Love to you all, and enjoy your Saturday.

Friday once more
Good morning from blustry Gillette,
The wind is howling, it's only 36 degrees out, and this is how I remember Autumn in Gillette. Now I truly feel home.
Upon arising this morning, I was sooooo excited! I looked down at my feet and they actually look like feet, not hams. Let me back up. When we went out with John and Shauna I mentioned how my feet had been hurting and I thought it was due to walking on the hardwood floor in the kitchen and breezeway. John suggested I start wearing houseslippers throughout the house, so Bobby took me shoe shopping yesterday. I bought a pair of shoes for outside, as well as a wonderfully comfy pair of slippers and wore them all day. Wahla! No swollen feet today. The slippers are the only thing I can attribute it to ... so thank you, thank you, thank you Johnny! It's so nice to have my feet back.
Misti and her family brought supper last night. We had wonderful steaks which Jerry grilled, fried potatoes and homemade veggie soup. It was delicious! That, on top of eggs benedict at Village Inn yesterday morning, has resulted in a 1.5 lb weight gain this morning, so I guess that's a good thing. Still having a problem accepting the fact that I'm supposed to be gaining weight instead of losing! :-)
Well, there's still a boatload of paper work I need to finish, and I just may go back to bed for an hour or so. Please have a phenomenal Friday and a safe and fun-filled weekend. Remember ... people don't care what you know until they know you care. And I know how caring each and every one of you are.
Love, hugs and kisses,
L

Wonderful Happened
Top of the Morning to You!
So ... did something wonderful happen to or for you yesterday. I sure hope so, because it did for us. In calling all the utilities, etc., in Colorado City to give them our new address, I talked with a friend of ours who is in the market for a home there. She wants to look at the house, and I just have a feeling she and her husband will probably make an offer. Keep your fingers crossed!
Yesterday was such a wonderful day, filled with love and family. I was also able to get quite a bit of book work accomplished, although I still have a little left for today. Then we had a delightful dinner out with John and Shauna. They are so much fun, no matter the setting. We went to Las Margaritas and had a marvelous meal. They serve enough to choke a horse, and it's delicious.
Bobby is going to take me for my chest and shoulder xray this morning and then I'm hoping to stop and get some shoes and houseslippers. The only shoes I can get on when my foot is swollen are my flip-flops ... and the weather is getting to the point where they're a little cool in the mornings. John also told me if I'd wear houseslippers on the hard wood flooring it would save my feet, which have been hurting a little. So ... that's the plan.
This morning, once again, I feel super strong and wonderful. Thank God for Votrient (my chemo med). I'm anxious to see what the chest xray shows but won't know for about a week and a half when I see Dr. Meade again. I'll let you know. Am hoping the tumors in the lung have shrunk considerably. I'll be surprised if they haven't.
Since its only 4 AM, guess I'll close for now and go back to bed for an hour or so. Have a fantastic day and we'll be talking tomorrow.
God Bless,
L

Lazy Bones
Hello again, cherished family and friends,
Will you look at the time? Guess I'm becoming a real lazy bones, sleeping in this late. But it feels so good!
Yesterday was the best day I've had since prior to the diagnosis. I was stronger and more pain-free than I've been in over two months. In fact, if I hadn't known better I'd have sworn I was totally cured. Only used my walker in the late afternoon/evening when I started to wear down. I was even able to walk up the 7 stairs on the deck, with help from Jerry of course.
Don't feel quite as strong, etc., this morning due to some neck, back, and leg pain. But it feels like it's muscular and nothing a good chiropractor couldn't help. I'm just afraid to press my luck. Dr. Mills gave permission for massage therapy ... don't want to push my luck with a request for chirpractic. Guess I'll make another massage appt.
Tammi and Misti spent most of the day with us yesterday, and Jerry and Bruce worked on the deck. It's just about finished and does it ever look nice. I have a feeliing we're going to be spending a lot of time out there during nice weather. What am I saying? We're already spending a lot of time enjoying the sunshine, trees, etc.
Tammi is healing from her mishap with the horse on Sunday, although yesterday was the third day and she was having more pain than on Monday. She's going to try to go to work today; however, she'll stay in the office and not go to the field. I told her she should take it easy one more day, but she's so dedicated. Insisted she could go in. We'll see what happens.
We have to run to the hospital today for lung and shoulder xrays. Other than that I'm spending the day doing the book work I was hoping to get done yesterday. We're going out to eat with John and Shauna this evening, so don't have to worry about what's for supper.
We had Deluxe Cheeseburger Soup last night for Tammi, Bruce and Jenni. Bobby, Angie and Baylee also came over and had supper. They had a water leak day before yesterday which ruined their floor in the kitchen, dining, laundry, and bathrooms so had a service there drying things out. Ah, the joys of homeownership!
Guess it's time to get busy, empty the dishwasher, get cleaned up, etc. Have a beautiful day and, provided there are no technical problems, I'll be visiting with you tomorrow.
Loads and Loads of Love,
L

Something Wonderful
Good Morning All,
Please indulge me for a few minutes on this glorious morning. Put your head back, close your eyes, empty your thoughts and let the spirit come into your mind. Can you feel it? Something wonderful is going to happen today, I just know it. Don't know what or when, but something. So look for it. You'll know it when you see it.
Hold on just a second, would you please? Time to take my morning meds. Be right back ... Okay, that's done until 5 tonight.
My good friend, Lamie, sent the following to me which I feel compelled to share with all of you. Thank you so much, Lam. Beautiful!
"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."
I can't think of a better note on which to end this missive. Please have a glorious day and never doubt how much I cherish your love and friendship.

Start of another week
Hola once more from balmy Gillette WY where it is currently 57 degrees, on its way to 86. Can't believe it!
Yesterday started out magnificently, with Tammi, Jerry and me hanging pics, putting books in the book shelves, etc. Angie brought her folks, Judy and Cecil, out for a visit in the afternoon and then, about 2 or 2:30, the day started downhill.
Once more the ambulance had to be called to Hitt Drive. Not for me this time, but for Tammi. Believe me, I would much prefer it had been for me! I thought she had gone home to study. Not so. Instead she opted to go riding on her mustang, Gus, which she had inadvertenly won at an auction several years ago. That's another story for another time.
Long story short, Gus spooked, Tammi hit the ground acquiring a great deal of road rash, very painful hip and ribs. Good news is, nothing is broken. Bad news is, she's in a lot of pain. Didn't get back from ER until after 10 last night. They had problems w/her blood pressure, which kept bottoming out every time she would try to stand. I'm anxious to get down this morning to see how her night went.
I feel just pheomenal today. Yesterday, after Tammi's trauma, I could feel the energy leaching (or is it leechig?) out of my body. Amazing what stress and worry can do. I choose, though, to have today be a good day and know that I'm getting stronger each day.
We have 8:30 and 9:30 appts with our new PCP, Dr. Meade, this morning so I'm going to close and go get my shower. Seems like it takes me at least twice, if not three times, as long to get ready anymore.
Have a superb Monday and I'll be talking with you again tomorrow.

Two in One
Hello again dear friends and family,
Please accept my apologies for not visiting with you yesterday. I had some technical issues, the least of which was the fact that I couldn't get logged on to Blog. Then Jerry had to take the computer with him when he and Bruce went out to the lake (Keyhole) to help some friends work on their new home. He needed the computer to design stairs, etc. Hopefully Jenni has the problem corrected with the Blog and we won't run into the problem again.
Both Friday and yesterday were wonderful days. Bruce and Jerry got the majority of the east deck built on Friday and we went out and watched the sunrise yesterday morning. I'm still in awe of the fact that this is the first of October in Wyoming. It felt like almost 90 degrees yesterday and is supposed to be every bit as nice today. Wow! What a difference 17 years can make.
Yesterday was such a delightful day. Spent the day with Tammi who really kicked butt with the boxes in the house. In fact, everything in the kitchen, dining room and living room is in place. Feels like home. The china hutch is done! And there are no boxes anywhere to be seen (just don't look in the spare bedroom or downstairs). It feels so wonderful. Last night we turned on all the lights in the china hutch and entertainment center while we had dinner with Tammi and Bruce. It was wonderful. As a bonus, Tammi and I were able to have good, quality time together which we haven't had an opportunty to do the last two months.
Brandon's grandmother, Marie, came up for about an hour and we had a marvelous visit. She is 81 years young and battling her own health problems, taking chemo every three weeks. Please keep her in your prayers. She is such a delightful lady and needs those prayers sent her way.
It seems I'm improving each and every day. I'm getting stronger and am able to walk quite a distance without my walker, although I don't do it when Jerry's around as he has a tendency to get a little grumpy with me when he sees me take off without it. He's just being protective and I appreciate that.
My prayer is that you and yours are all well and happy. Once again, to quote my precious sister, be kind to yourself. Have a wonderful Sunday and I'll be visiting with you again tomorrow, provided there are no technical difficulties.
Love to you all,
L
